Amanda Gutiérrez Carbajal is a paleoproteomics researcher whose work focuses on recovering and interpreting ancient proteins to address evolutionary questions across deep time. Her research integrates biomolecular approaches—particularly enamel proteomics—with evolutionary biology, taxonomy, and phylogenetics to refine species identification and reconstruct evolutionary relationships. With a background in Biology and Anthropology, she defended her PhD at CENIEH (Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana, Burgos) in February 2025. She combines summer fieldwork with laboratory-based research, integrating excavation, sampling strategies, and biomolecular analyses into a cohesive research framework. Her broader interests include methodological standardization in paleoproteomics and the translation of molecular data into meaningful evolutionary insight.
