Introductory course on conservation of natural history collections. June 26-30.
This course is organized by the Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont (ICP) and the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona (MCNB), in collaboration with the Escola Superior de Conservació i Restauració de Béns Culturals de Catalunya (ESRCBCC).
The MCNB and the ICP preserve valuable collections of natural sciences (fossils exclusively in the case of ICP and minerals, rocks, herbarium sheets, seeds, zoological specimens and fossils in the case of MCNB). Preserving this heritage is a joint effort between natural sciences field and heritage conservation professionals.
During the course, the most relevant aspects of the conservation of natural science collections will be discussed, including preparation, environmental conditions, pest prevention and packaging types, among others.

The course is aimed at students of 3rd and 4th year of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, graduates in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property and professionals in the field of natural history conservation. The course is equivalent to 1 ECTS of the ESCRBCC.

The course will be held from 26 to 30 June from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sessions will take place in: Museu Blau (Barcelona), ICP Museum (Sabadell) and ICTA-ICP Building (UAB Campus).

ESCRBCC students and unemployed: 150€
