'Miquel Crusafont' PhD researcher
Computational Biomechanics & Life History Evolution
I am an R1 predoctoral researcher at the Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont (ICP). Originally from Sassari (Italy), I trained in Geology and Paleontology at the Università degli Studi di Firenze, Sapienza Università di Roma, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. My academic and research trajectory has focused on vertebrate paleontology, with particular interest in Permian tetrapods, cranial anatomy, three-dimensional reconstruction from micro-CT data, and phylogenetic and paleobiogeographic analyses.
In recent years I have conducted research at the ICP on Permian materials from the Iberian Peninsula, combining traditional anatomical observation with 3D segmentation and modelling of fossils, as well as phylogenetic analyses using different morphological and time-calibrated approaches. I have also participated in field surveys and excavation campaigns, fossil recovery and cataloguing, preparation of materials for study and publication, and science communication and museum outreach activities in Italy and Spain.
