Research associate
Research group on Paleoprimatology and Human Paleontology

He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Geology (University of Granada, 1999). His Ph.D. (University of Granada, 2006) was focused on the study of the small mammal (rodents and insectivores) from several Late Miocene and Pliocene localities from the Guadix-Baza Basin (southern Spain).

In 2008 he got a postdoctoral position at the Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont (ICP), becoming part of the Paleoprimatology and Human Paleontology Group. During this stage, his main focus was the study of the primates (Omomyiformes, Adapiformes, Plesiadapiformes) from several Iberian Eocene localities.

In December 2017 he started working at the Stratigtraphy and Paleontology Department (University of Granada), although he also collaborates with the ICP as a research associate. He continues developing the same main research lines: study of Paleogene primates and analysis of Neogene rodents and insectivores from the Iberian Peninsula.

He has published more than 50 scientific papers in international journals indexed in SCI, such as Journal of Human Evolution, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, Quaternary Science Reviews, Journal of Biogeography, Lethaia and Palaeoecology, Paleogeography, Paleoclimatology. He has supervised a Doctoral Thesis (another one ongoing), he has been principal investigator of three competitive research projects, taught in several master degrees and directed several field campaigns.
