La XVI edició d'aquesta trobada anual ha comptat amb la participació de més de 190 persones de 23 paisos diferents. A banda de les ponències i presentacions de pòsters habituals en aquest tipus de congressos, l'edició d'enguany ha ofert dos cursos gratuïts als participants, un d'ells organitzat per Soledad Esteban-Trivigno, investigadora de l'Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont (ICP) i responsable de Transmitting Science (TS), que ha impartit la formació “First Steps Into Geometric Morphometrics”.

L’EAVP es fa fundar l’any 2003 i en les seves trobades anuals els investigadors presenten les darreres investigacions en diverses disciplines de la paleontologia de vertebrats (sistemàtica, bioestratigrafia, conservació de fòssils, etc.). A banda de presentar novetats, el congrés és un punt de trobada per establir col·laboracions internacionals.
